So many love to have coffee every morning, and it is their lives. No one can survive without a cup of coffee to prevent fatigue and tiredness. However, just drinking it right away without any food in the stomach gives you some side effects.
Coffee on an empty stomach
First of all, a cup of coffee in the morning on an empty stomach can cause gastrointestinal disorders. This is because of various stimulating ingredients in coffee, such as caffeine and fatty acids, which attack the gastric mucosa and the cells on the wall of the stomach. There is a higher risk of acid reflux or an upset stomach, developing gastritis, gastric ulcer, and hypersensitive colon disease when they consume coffee in fasting state in the morning.
Caffeine has the potential for digestive discomfort. In addition, caffeine stimulates the lower esophageal sphincter, which poses a risk of gastric acid and food reflux. If these symptoms worsen, it can lead to reflux esophagitis. Of the studied patients, about 98% reported that they used to drink beverages containing caffeine, such as coffee (1). Avoiding morning coffee, especially for people with digestive disorders, is better.
Milk in a latte also stimulates the stomach. When you are hungry, a lot of gastric acid is secreted, and the caffeine in coffee or calcium in milk in a latte further promotes gastric acid secretion. Digestion, abdominal distention, and diarrhea are especially likely to occur in people without lactose-degrading enzymes.

Disruption of life cycle
Our bodies have a natural circadian rhythm that helps regulate our sleep-wake cycle. Drinking coffee in the morning, especially if it contains caffeine, can disrupt this rhythm if consumed too early or in excessive amounts, making it harder to fall asleep at night.
Another problem is that morning coffee has an excessive arousal effect. Cortisol hormones, which boost physical vitality, are secreted the most during the first one to two hours after waking up. However, coffee caffeine has a similar effect to cortisol. Therefore, drinking coffee during a short period can lead to side effects such as headache, heartburn, and heart palpitations. Excessive secretion of cortisol in the body due to caffeine intake increases the risk of high blood pressure, cardiovascular disease, and metabolic disease. Coffee can also increase anxiety and lead to feelings of jitteriness, especially in individuals who are sensitive to caffeine. This can be more pronounced if consumed in large quantities or on an empty stomach.
If you really want to drink a cup of coffee, It is better to drink after breakfast rather than an empty stomach. That way, you can protect your digestive organs and reduce side effects caused by excessive arousal effects. The best time to drink coffee is 1 to 2 hours after waking up and afternoon.
