Vitamin C megadose I did, let’s take a look. As a pharmacist, I regularly take vitamin C in proper amounts every day. Regular vitamin C consumption brings me good results on vital functions and overall Health.
Our body needs more vitamin C
Why did I need vitamin C whole a lot? When I got cold and sometimes went through a long period of cough and cold. I wondered where my vitamin Cs were gone and what they were doing. I was somewhat curious about megadosing vitamin C, which can actually affect overall health. So, for a short term, I decided to take vitamin C a lot, Megadose. The basic concept of megadosing vitamin C is beyond the tolerable upper intake level of 2,000 mg a day. I want to recover from the flu fast and work lively without getting tired. And I often got trouble with my gum health, including bleeding and fesky inflammation. Those are all about the vitamin C deficiency.
Why megadose?
Vitamin C megadose is an attractive option to fully recover from and prevent illness. How much vitamin C should we take daily? According to the FDA, adults need 90 mg of it a day as adequate. This amount just seems like a basic amount; it is the minimum of vitamin C as a coenzyme our body definitely needs for biological reactions for survival. Researchers analyzed 31 studies of regular vitamin C supplementations affecting the symptom duration and severity of colds (1). They concluded regular vitamin C uptakes did not seem to affect incredibly the recovery from the common cold in general people.
How megadose vitamin C?
To approach the vitamin C megadose therapy, I need to take it 100-200 times the recommended to reach the saturation point for its full effectiveness. There is no specific dose for megadose, and its amount varies among individuals. The most common method is to check the intestinal dose. Vitamin C intake is limited to 70-80 percent of the bowel tolerance dose, which can cause diarrhea or loose stool, a rapid bowel movement (2). However, no time to measure my bowel tolerance, and I was in a bit of a hurry. I wanted to get my body back into normal, healthy condition. So, I did megadose with 10,000 mg a day, which is an average of the high-dosing method in general.
Vitamin C Megadose
The results were satisfactory to me.
1. Immunity. The biggest reason I did vitamin C megadose was to overcome my current symptoms of colds and cough. Vitamin C helps cellular function in the immune system and helps to get rid of symptoms of a cold. When I put all the vitamin C worriers into the immune war, improving my immune system and boosting biochemical reactions due to the coenzyme, vitamin C works many important roles in the body. Also, megadosing did shorten the period of sickness.
2. Vitality. I was fully recovered and felt fresh without any tiredness. A high dose of vitamin C helps the cortisol, a stress hormone, to use itself enough. Vitamin C is definitely required when we are in stressful conditions because the body needs it for the action of cortisol, catecholamines, and vitamin C to maintain immune function and protect the host (3). Megadose seems like a reasonable way to keep the body from getting colds. Particularly when we are under stress, we may opt for a high dose of vitamin C for better and quick results.
3. Antioxdiative. The bleeding and inflammation on the gum were totally gone. As a powerful antioxidant, vitamin C reduces oxidative stress, protects cells, and keeps the connective tissue, especially gum, healthy. And it is also essential to form collagens to keep skin and joints.
Side effects?
It is a vitamin C with fewer side effects for its water-soluble property easily flush out through urine in general, I expected. But what I paid for was expensive. I had GI troubles like diarrhea, nausea, and acidic reflux as common side effects of high-dosing vitamin C. And the loose stool was the hardest one. Not sure this is the perfect idea of benefits because megadose overloaded the stomach too much. People with poor absorption are not recommended because high-dose vitamin C can be poisonous. And there are also serious concerns about kidney or urinary stones, and furthermore, drug-drug interactions should be considered if anyone takes blood-thinning medicines. Need to know that megadosing vitamins is not safe and is a good remedy for all individuals.
Conclusion
So, when I fully got back into healthy conditions, I stopped the megadose to pull me out of many stomach and intestinal side effects. Back to normal administration, vitamin C is still a super great nutrient in adequate amounts; For theraepeucial use of vitamin C, recommended daily intake of vitamin C is up to 100 milligrams and 2,000 milligrams for adults. Megadose is consumed more than this upper limit. Usually, vitamin 500 mg or less is taken. I decided to use it in 1 or 2 pills every day, about 500-1000 mg of it.
However, what I found during megadose is excellent, especially in recovery from illness. I personally don’t have confidence in a megadose remedy, but it may be a good option for certain. People who haven’t tried Meghados are scared. There is a way for such people to feel free to do so. Take vitamin C in the recommended dose and occasionally try megadose when you feel tired or need it.
